American Standard Central Heat Pump Installation for a Ranch-Style Home in Pinole

Galaxy Heating & Air Conditioning installed an American Standard central heat pump system at a 2,300-square-foot ranch-style home. The homeowner had central HVAC with gas heating and wanted to transition to heat pump heating and cooling.

The project included a 4-ton American Standard inverter heat pump, model 5A6H7048A1000, and a matching horizontal evaporator coil. The selected outdoor unit was listed at 17.2 SEER2. Its variable-speed inverter operation allows output to adjust to changing demand, supporting more consistent indoor temperatures. A Nest WiFi thermostat provided updated system controls.

We enlarged the return air filter grille to 30 × 20 inches and provided a new filter while reusing the existing return duct. In the attic, the scope included extending the equipment platform, installing a new safety drain pan, and connecting the drain line to the existing condensate pump.

Outdoor work included a vibration-isolation pad and leveling and securing the heat pump. We also installed a new electrical supply from the panel, an outdoor disconnect and electrical whip, and a new refrigerant line set with control wiring and protective line set cover. Refrigerant piping work included brazing, nitrogen pressure testing, and evacuation.

Permits and Title 24 compliance work were included in the project scope. Warranty coverage included a five-year Galaxy labor warranty and ten-year manufacturer parts and compressor warranties, subject to applicable terms. The existing furnace was excluded from the new warranty coverage.
