Galaxy Heating & Air Conditioning replaced an aging HVAC system at a home in Alamo with an American Standard 5-ton, 17 SEER2 inverter air conditioner and a 96% AFUE gas furnace.
The homeowner’s previous R-22 air conditioning system was no longer cooling as effectively as it used to. The furnace was also very old, with an 80% AFUE rating. We replaced both units to upgrade the home’s heating and cooling equipment.
The new inverter air conditioner can adjust its output to match cooling demand instead of simply running at full capacity or shutting off. This allows for more consistent indoor temperatures and longer, gentler cooling cycles. Its 17 SEER2 efficiency rating provides an efficient cooling option for Alamo’s hot summer weather.
The new 96% AFUE furnace converts approximately 96% of its fuel energy into usable heat, compared with the old furnace’s original 80% rating. That means less fuel is needed to deliver the same amount of heat, with less energy lost through the exhaust.
Together, the new air conditioner and furnace provide a modern system designed for more consistent comfort and efficient year-round operation. Installation was completed on August 17, 2026.
