Silicon Valley Clean Energy Launches City-Specific Rebates for Four South Bay Communities
Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) has announced a new partnership with four South Bay cities — Milpitas, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Los Altos — to offer exclusive additional rebates for residents who electrify their homes. These are separate from, and stacked on top of, SVCE's existing rebate program.
If you live in one of these cities and have been considering a heat pump, heat pump water heater, or induction cooktop, the timing has not been better.
Rebate Summary by City
| City | Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) | Heat Pump HVAC | Induction Cooktop/Range | Panel Upgrade | Available |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Milpitas | $850 | $2,000 | $500 | $250 | Now |
| Mountain View | $500 – $2,000 | — | — | — | March 12, 2026 |
| Sunnyvale | — | $1,000 – $1,500* | — | — | March 16, 2026 |
| Los Altos | $1,000 | $1,000 | — | — | March 16, 2026 |
*Higher rebate amounts are available for income-qualifying customers. See SVCE's Income Qualifications for details.
Important: Only applications approved after each city's launch date qualify for these additional rebates.
Milpitas: Rebates Available Now
Milpitas has the most comprehensive offer of the four cities and the rebates are already live:
- $2,000 for a heat pump HVAC system
- $850 for a heat pump water heater
- $500 for an induction cooktop or range
- $250 for an electrical panel upgrade
If you are a Milpitas resident who has been on the fence about upgrading to a heat pump system, this is the moment to act. A heat pump HVAC replacement combined with a heat pump water heater could qualify you for $2,850 from SVCE's city program alone, before factoring in any other state or federal incentives.
Mountain View: Heat Pump Water Heater Rebates Open March 12
Mountain View's city rebate focuses entirely on heat pump water heaters, with a wide range tied to household income:
- $500 – $2,000 for a heat pump water heater
- Income-qualifying customers may receive the full $2,000
The program opens March 12, 2026. Applications submitted before that date will not qualify for the city rebate amount, so if your water heater replacement is coming up soon, coordinate your installation timing accordingly.
Sunnyvale: Heat Pump HVAC Rebates Open March 16
Sunnyvale is targeting heat pump HVAC systems with a tiered rebate:
- $1,000 for a heat pump HVAC system (standard)
- $1,500 for income-qualifying customers
The program launches March 16, 2026. This rebate stacks with SVCE's existing heat pump rebates, making Sunnyvale one of the better markets for a heat pump upgrade right now.
Los Altos: Important Differences in How the Rebate Works
Los Altos residents can receive:
- $1,000 for a heat pump HVAC system
- $1,000 for a heat pump water heater
However, the Los Altos program operates differently from the other three cities, and it is important to understand this before planning your installation.
Los Altos Rebate Key Details
Limited budget — first-come, first-served. Unlike the other city programs, Los Altos has a capped budget. Once funds are exhausted, the rebate is gone. There is no waitlist.
No advance reservations. Los Altos rebates cannot be reserved ahead of time. The rebate is applied only after your post-installation claim form is reviewed and approved.
Not visible on the Assisted Home Upgrades platform. If you use SVCE's Assisted Home Upgrades portal to manage your project, the Los Altos city rebate will not appear there. However, you can still receive it by submitting your claim form after installation — it just will not show up in advance.
SVCE standard rebates are not affected. The standard SVCE rebate reservation and claims process continues normally for Los Altos customers. Only the supplemental city rebate has these restrictions.
The takeaway: if you are in Los Altos, move quickly once the program opens on March 16, 2026. Given the limited budget and first-come, first-served structure, early applicants are most likely to receive the full benefit.
Stacking These Rebates with SVCE's Standard Program
These city rebates are in addition to — not a replacement for — SVCE's existing rebate program. Depending on the equipment you install, you can layer multiple SVCE incentive sources:
- SVCE standard rebates (via normal reservation and claims process)
- SVCE city rebates (described above, specific to Milpitas, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Los Altos)
Combining the city rebate with SVCE's standard program rebate on a heat pump HVAC installation could substantially reduce your net cost. Check the SVCE Home Rebates page for current standard rebate amounts for your equipment type.
How to Get Started
If you live in Milpitas, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, or Los Altos and want to take advantage of these rebates:
- Confirm your SVCE service territory — SVCE serves most of Santa Clara County. You can verify your address on the SVCE Home Rebates page.
- Get a free estimate — Know your equipment options and total installed cost before the rebate launch date.
- Time your installation to qualify — Your application must be approved after the launch date for that city's program.
- Submit your claim promptly — Especially for Los Altos, where funds are limited and first-come, first-served.
