Can Mitsubishi Be Ductless AND Ducted?
Yes! Mitsubishi hybrid systems combine ductless wall/ceiling-mounted units AND a ducted air handler on the same outdoor condenser. Thanks to Mitsubishi's multi-zone technology, both types of indoor units work together perfectly, each zone independently controlled while sharing one efficient outdoor unit.
This is one of Galaxy's favorite setups because it gives maximum flexibility, superior zoning, and comfort options that other systems simply can't match.
The Two Best Installation Configurations
Configuration 1: Attic Air Handler + First-Floor Ductless
Perfect for: Homes where the attic is accessible and you want whole-home ducted heating/cooling on the second floor and upper areas.
- Ducted air handler in attic (SVZ-AP or PVA-AA) - Services both floors through ductwork
- Ductless wall/floor mounts on first floor (SLZ, MLZ models) - Provides independent heating/cooling below
- Single outdoor condenser - Manages both zones simultaneously
- Real example: A 2-story Danville home had existing second-floor ductwork. We installed a Mitsubishi air handler in the attic to service the second floor, then added three ductless wall units on the first floor (living room, master bedroom, kitchen). Result: Independent zone control with one efficient system.
Configuration 2: Garage/Closet Air Handler + Second-Floor Ductless
Perfect for: Homes where the first floor can't accommodate ductwork efficiently, but the garage or utility closet offers a good location for an air handler.
- Ducted air handler in garage/closet (SVZ-AP or PVA-AA) - Services first floor and main living areas
- Ductless wall/ceiling mounts on second floor (SLZ, MLZ models) - Perfect for bedrooms and upstairs spaces
- Single outdoor condenser - Controls everything with one compressor
- Real example: A Lafayette 2-story home had a furnace closet on the first floor. We installed a Mitsubishi air handler there serving the first floor with new ductwork, then added two ductless ceiling-mounted units upstairs in the master bedroom suite and guest bedroom.
Why We Love This Setup
✅ Maximum flexibility - Each room/zone operates independently

We Think Outside the Box
Unlike many HVAC companies, we don't fit homes into system boxes—we fit systems into homes. We've solved problems other installers thought impossible:
- Victorian homes with no attic space? We use hallway closets.
- Cathedral ceilings that can't be ducted? We use ceiling-mounted ductless units.
- Families needing different temperatures? We design independent zone control.
